  • What is teletherapy and how does it work?

Teletherapy is virtual therapy services provided in the comfort and privacy of your own home. Your therapy session will be conducted using a HIPAA compliant, secure service. You can conveniently talk with me from your laptop, tablet, desktop or smartphone. Teletherapy easily fits within busy schedules allowing you to avoid the stress of traffic, parking, finding a babysitter,  awkward waiting rooms, or carving out additional commute time. Simply find a quiet, private location, get comfortable, and log into your client portal.

  • Is therapy confidential?

Trust and confidentiality is the foundation of our work together. The law protects the confidentiality of all communications between a client and therapist. No information is disclosed without the written permission from the client; however, there are some exceptions to this law. These exceptions include:

  • Suspected child, dependent, or elder abuse

  • If the client is presenting as a serious threat to themselves or someone else

  • What if I can’t make it to my appointment?

To avoid being charged your full session fee, 24-hour cancellation is required. We understand that life happens and there are times when you simply cannot make an appointment. However, a cancelled appointment hurts three people: you, the therapist, and another client who could have potentially used your time slot. When a session is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, we are  unable to fill your time slot or offer it to another client.

  • Can I do sessions in-person?

At this time, I only offer virtual sessions through a secure telehealth platform.

  • I do not live in North Carolina, can we still work together?

Due to licensing requirements, I can only provide online therapy to individuals located in North Carolina.

  • What does Out-Of-Network Provider mean?

As an out-of-network provider, I am not contracted with any insurance companies. To ensure that I provide the best services to my clients, I choose to be 100% insurance free. This enables complete flexibility and autonomy during our sessions. There is no required diagnosis as part of your medical records, limitations on the number of sessions, or restrictions on our therapeutic goals. 8 Reasons to See an Out-Of-Network Therapist

  • Can I use still use health insurance?

Generally, PPO medical plans offer the flexibility to utilize out-of-network healthcare providers. You can quickly to check your Out-of-Network costs here. Then follow-up by contacting the phone number on the back of your medical card to ask specific questions about your out-of-network benefits.  As an out-of-network provider, you will pay my full-fee and get reimbursed by your insurance company.  To make your insurance reimbursement process easy I work with Mentaya, a platform that helps clients get money back on out-of-network therapy sessions. If you have out-of-network benefits, Mentaya will file claims and handle the insurance paperwork to make sure you get reimbursed.
